INJURY REPORT: February 1, 2017
-Arizona/C Max Domi…hand surgery on 12/13; close to returning to practice.
-Buffalo/D Jake McCabe…shoulder injury on 1/20; out at least another week.
-Colorado/D Tyson Barrie…lower-body injury; out since 1/17; returned to action on Tuesday night.
-Colorado/G Semyon Varlamov…recurrence of groin injury on 1/17 after missing three weeks; required hip surgery and now out for the season.
-Detroit/G Jimmy Howard…sprained MCL on 12/20; moved to long-term injury reserve list on 1/19; skated with team Monday and will play a game or two in the AHL before rejoining the Red Wings.
-Detroit/LW Thomas Vanek…sprained lower-body injury on 1/22; returned to action on 1/25.
-Florida/C Aleksander Barkov…undisclosed injury; on IR since 12/28 and there was a chance he could miss the rest of the season. But now following the recent treatment he’s received, there’s a good chance he will be able to return as soon as next week.
-Florida/C Nick Bjugstad…groin injury; placed on IR 1/17 and returned to action on Tuesday night.
-Florida/LW Jonathan Huberdeau…Achilles injury in preseason; might return to action the first week of March, but still a possibility he misses the rest of the season.
-LA/RW Tyler Toffoli…lower-body injury on 12/20; placed on IR 12/28; has resumed skating as of 1/18.
-LA/G Jonathan Quick…groin injury; has been out since season opening contest in San Jose on 10/12; now expected out until early-March.
-MIN/D Jonas Brodin…broke finger on 1/17; looking at extended stint on injured reserve.
-Montreal/C Alex Galchenyuk…knee injury suffered in early-December; activated 1/14, but re-aggravated injury on 1/18; now expected to miss another two weeks.
-Montreal/D Andrei Markov…lower-body injury on 12/17; missed 19 straight games, but returned to action on Tuesday night.
-Montreal/RW Brendan Gallagher…underwent surgery on 1/6 to repair a fractured left hand and will be sidelined eight weeks.
-Nashville/D Roman Josi…undisclosed injury; placed on IR 1/13; should return soon after the All-Star break.
-NY Islanders/D Travis Hamonic…knee injury; out since 1/11; considered week-to-week.
-NY Rangers/D Marc Staal…concussion; out since 1/3; returned to action on Tuesday night.
-NY Rangers/C Kevin Hayes…suffered left leg/knee injury on 1/22 and slated to miss 2-3 weeks.
-Ottawa/G Craig Anderson…still dealing with wife’s illness; resumed practicing with Ottawa, but will still require two weeks of conditioning and then possibly a short AHL stint before returning to the big club.
-Pittsburgh/D Kris Letang…leg injury; placed on IR 1/16; return to action on Tuesday night.
-Pittsburgh/C Evgeni Malkin…knee injury; placed on IR 1/31; no set timeframe for return, though there’s a possibility he will be able to return in a matter of days.
-San Jose/LW Tomas Hertl…knee surgery on 11/22; was expected out of action until mid-February at a minimum, but returned to action on Tuesday night.
-Tampa Bay/C Steven Stamkos…lateral meniscus tear surgery on 11/16; out at least two additional months or more.
–Tampa Bay/RW Ryan Callahan…reoccurring hip injury; placed on IR 1/17; will miss at least four weeks.
-Toronto/D Morgan Rielly… lower-body injury; out since 1/17; should return soon after the All-Star break.
-Washington/D John Carlson… lower-body injury; out since 1/15; returned to action on Tuesday night.
